It has been a busy couple of terms for the High Performance Soccer student-athletes.  The program has had a lot of variety with sessions at a local gym to work on specific strength and conditioning aspects.  The student-athletes have also been involved in yoga lessons which have aided in recovery for tired and sore bodies.  As for the soccer specific work, the program has included technical analysis of game play. From this analysis students were then tasked with delivering a half time team talk. On the field sessions have been designed for individual skill development with various skill tests being performed on running with the ball, shooting accuracy, passing accuracy and juggling.  The theory component this term has had a major focus on how to get the best out of yourself from a psychological perspective. The topic has covered elements of mental visualisation, goal setting, motivation and techniques for dealing with nerves and anxiety. In summary the soccer student-athletes have been asked constantly to get out of their comfort zones and they have shown an excellent determination and desire to learn and develop.
